Swift's POV
The day had been pretty eventful. To start it off, we'd just gone to Terra Nord to see how Suzy-Lu and the rest of her squadron were getting on with their new home. Me and Piper talked to Suzy while the others got into their usual groove of extreme sports that would kill anyone easily if a mistake was made. It was going alright for the Absolute Zeroes, although Suzy did seem to miss her home terra. I wish we could do something about it… but there're far too many Cyclonians inhabiting and guarding it… To fight that many would be impossible in our small number…

After we left, the rest of the day seemed to be quiet. But I didn't mind, we were all on the Condor, clear skies ahead of us. Stork was at the helm as ever, but he enjoyed flying the ship - that in itself was probably reward enough for him. It was my first week, as a Storm Hawk that is. It was weird, under the 'command' of one Sky Knight one day, then awaiting orders from another the next. At least Aerrow actually gave orders…

So yeah, quiet. Not a distress signal all day. I was beginning to think that we weren't gonna' be getting any action for the rest of the day… but then we were running low on crystal fuel so we had to stop off at the Wayside. Everyone except me, Stork and Radarr seemed to need something from the Terra's resource centre. We were just waiting on the Condor, me just doing what I always did – looking out of the window, Radarr seemed to be just sitting at the bridge and Stork was …waiting eagerly for the others to come back so he could get on with it and continue to drive the Condor. All was quiet until the radio kicked in. It was a distress signal.

'Hello Storm Hawks?' the voice of Blister from Terra Saharr ran through the radio. 'This is Sky Knight Blister of Terra Saharr' he introduced himself, although we all recognized his voice from the start. He continued –'Just to let you know, Master Cyclonis was spotted on her skimmer about 100 ticks from Wayside a few minutes ago. Our time-pulse informs us that you're docking on the Terra. Just alertin' ya' incase she may try to pull anything'. Stork pulled down his speaker thingy from above him and talked into it –'Helmsmen Stork reporting, Aerrow isn't here right now but I'll be sure to tell him that-'he began. I continued to listen as I began to stare out of the bridge's window again, only this time, seeing what I wasn't expecting to see- Cyclonis on her skimmer a few ticks away… alone?!

Alone?! She was never alone! She always had the Dark Ace there to protect her or something… If she didn't have protection then I guess she wouldn't try anything… Maybe she was out of an afternoon fly? Oh come on, she wouldn't do that… She had to be up to something… Then I glanced over to Radarr, Cyclonis had caught his attention too. Then his eyes seemed to widen and I looked back out to the window. A purple bolt seemed to be coming our way – Cyclonis was attacking… still on her own… Immediately, Radarr ran up, jumped and pushed me out of the way of the incoming bolt that then seemed to smash part of the Condor's right side window. Stork turned around to see what the hell had just happened as I sat upward, finding Radarr face-down on my chest. I smiled at him once he'd looked upward; he had looked out for me… "Thanks bud'" I said to him as he answered with his usual pleasing 'Aaarch!'.

As Stork quickly ended his conversation with Blister on the radio, he turned to meet my eyes in anger. I knew it, he was angry. I'd probably have to get to my skimmer before she caused anymore damage… and try to avoid Stork exploding; maybe me chasing after her would calm him down? I looked to Radarr as I got up- "You with me Radarr?" I asked him. "Aaarch!" he answered, nodding and climbing up on my shoulder. "It's ok Stork, we got this. Just tell the others when they get back that… we went out for ice cream…" I told him to lie. I hate that I had to encourage him to lie… I just didn't want the others to worry…

As I ran down to the hanger-bay with Radarr on my shoulder, I tightened my fists, my thunder gloves already on. I'd never fought Cyclonis on my own before but I'd seen the way she fought… Maybe I'd get lucky… When we got there, I hopped on my skimmer and Radarr held on behind me. As we flew off of the landing strip, I glanced at my ex-best friend… fleeing. How did I let her become that? The bad guy? I don't know… If I get hurt by her later maybe I'll feel better about it all… Anyway… she was fleeing? Pfft, luring into a trap? Duh… She does that all the time… So I basically took that chance to use my speed boost. I turned my head to Radarr and told him to hold on. He did and I began to rub my hands together, creating a large energy charge, or in other words - a speed boost when that energy was released. Then, I outstretched my arms, gripping my fists… then at the last moment… releasing that grip… and thus… creating a massive G-force like speed-boost. All I know now is, however many ticks away Cyclonis was, I'm there now… next to her…

"I didn't think it was like you to start a fight and not finish it" I commented to her as she looked to me, not that surprised and clearly amused that I had followed her. "Who's to say I'm not about to?" she sneered at me in her usual evil and un-frightening voice. "If this was about the fighting and not about talking to or trapping me then you would've continued to open fire on the Condor" I explained to her, Radarr understanding my logic. "In that case…" she began as she reached for her staff "I think I'll continue". She did one of those stances with her staff but I just rolled my eyes at her, when people I didn't like did that, I just wanted to annoy them. I turned to Radarr – "I'll hold her off bud, you just take the skimmer back to the Condor ok?" I told him. He raised on of his 'eyebrows' and looked at me strangely. I was still on the skimmer, I knew that. Afterwards, I jumped up onto the right wing, surprisingly… I'd watched Aerrow do it numbers of times… but now I was doing it. I turned back to Radarr and nodded to him as Cyclonis tried to blast me from the side. I jumped towards her; the blast bolts from her staff just about missing me.

As I came down, I grabbed Cyclonis by the neck and forced her down… the force was so great that I took her off of her skimmer in the process. I could hear Radarr squeak with horror as we both disappeared below the cloud layer. Then Cyclonis just lunged upward, whacking me in the jaw and causing me to release my grip. I continued to fall, rubbing my jaw to try and sooth the pain as Cyclonis flew upward thanks to her levitation crystal. Thinking fast, I rubbed my hands together again, more quickly this time though. A few seconds later, I popped out of the cloud layer that I had previously fallen below. I glanced at Radarr as his face lit up. I kept on having to repeat the process of small discharges with my thunder gloves so I didn't fall to my death and stay in mid-air like Cyclonis. "It's ok Radarr I got this" I told him smoothly as he soon nodded and took off in the other direction with my skimmer.

Seeing him try to retreat, Cyclonis tried to blast him with her staff. I produced a small discharge with one of my gloves to keep me aloft and shot a bolt from the other to counteract the one she'd just shot at Radarr. It hit… for once… As I did so, she obviously got annoyed with me. "You really think you can beat me?" she began with the usual questioning of authority. "Just because we used to be friends doesn't mean that I'll go easy on you" she continued, surprisingly giving me a warning. To be honest, I was surprised that she even accepted it that we used to be friends… "Tu-shay" I replied. She instantly held the end of her staff and swung it towards me. Catching me off guard, her staff reached my neck and it's spiked out end bits seemed to coil around it. Then they began to tighten as the crystal usually embedded in the spikes seemed to come slowly closer and closer to the front of my neck. I wrapped both of my hands around her staff, near the end that was strangling me and tried to tug it away from me… but I couldn't… the crystal in the staff had its own grip on me.

Actually having one of those ideas before I would be suffocated, I tightened my grip on Cyclonis' staff, knowing it was made of metal helped… by about 100%. The thunder stones in my gloves activated once more, sending a few volts down Cyclonis' staff and into her. It would've been a few thousand volts… but I couldn't let it end like that… She flinched as I pried her staff off of my neck; it was easier without her supporting it on the end. Luckily, I'd been wearing a rubber strand under my friendship necklace Piper gave me… I was an insulator to the electricity. After Cyclonis had recovered from the mild shock, she forces her staff back into her hand. I didn't mind, I didn't grip at it to stop her… all it proved was that she felt she needed it to beat me…

Then, she just went over the line. "After I'm done with you, I'll go after them… and soon… very soon… you'll lose everyone you once cared about. One by one… starting with Aerrow… and ending with Piper…" she explained. Then, I just snapped. She knew I'd get angry at her for that remark… What was about to happen, she brought on herself. Propelling myself forward with my gloves again, my speed had obviously taken her by surprise. Grabbing her by the neck AGAIN, I forced downwards, not caring where or if we landed. We crashed down below the cloud layer and I saw that we were about to crash into a Terra. It being low below the cloud layer, it way uninhabited. Having my one brief moment of mercy, I let go of Cyclonis and punched her in the jaw, where she'd previously whacked me. And Yes, that was me being merciful… ok, maybe it wasn't but it was better than me continuing my course and probably injuring her back permanently…

But, as I suspected, Cyclonis flew backwards, landed on the Terra and seemed to recover. I landed too, about 2 meters away from her. I grunted a small chuckle and asked her – "What is it with both of us going for each other's necks today?" "Must be the heat…" Cyclonis replied, leaning forward. I guessed her next move, probably going to pounce so I waited until she stuck out… which she did. I opened the palm of my right hand and a bolt shot out of it. Not expecting my fast movement, Cyclonis was hit by it and flew back… off of the Terra… I ran to the side to look down, and saw her clutching to the side of the terra with one hand, her other hand dangling along with her arm, clutching to her staff. Because of gravitational potential, it would be hard to pull it back up. In other words, it was way too heavy to lift.

She looked down at her staff, then up to me with hate burning in her eyes. A gust of wind suddenly blew, causing her staff to be torn out of her hand. "No!" she cried, leaning out as far as she could to try and catch it. But- no such luck, the staff fell to the wastelands. The wind blew again, harder this time causing her grip of the Terra to loosen; her hand slipping from the rock her was clutching. After a second, she slipped down further. I could see a patch of blood on the palm of her glove, the rocks on the side was rough… She looked up at me again as the rock she was now clutching began to break off of the side of the Terra. But it was weird… there wasn't any hatred in her eyes now, they were partly squinted- they either wanted me to take pity on her, or… they were saying 'sorry'… Sorry? She was never sorry, this had never happened before… Either way, I wasn't going to let this opportunity slip through my fingers.

To be continued...
Another Storm Hawks fanfic.

Wait 'til whenever to find out.
Sorry Swift's in it again... I just find it kinda' hard to write stuff without her...

Anywayz, enjoy ^^
